Penn State Altoona's Distinguished Speaker Series brings high-profile speakers to campus, including Rainn Wilson (The Office), Sean Astin (Goonies, Rudy, Lord of the Rings, Stranger Things), Madeleine Albright (the first woman to hold the office of Secretary of State), and others. College offices and academic programs host other events and speakers throughout the year, many of which are open to the public and available at no or little cost. Penn State Altoona offers numerous opportunities to explore the arts, including two dance ensembles, vocal ensembles, a jazz band, visual art gallery exhibits, and readings of poetry and prose. Many of these performances and exhibits take place in the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts, home of the 400-seat Wolf Kuhn Theatre and the Sheetz and McLanahan art galleries.
Penn State Altoona is affiliated with Divison III of the NCAA and a member of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference. We offer opportunities for student-athletes in seventeen men's and women's sports, including baseball, basketball, bowling, golf, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, and wrestling. We also offer additional recreation and club sport opportunities.
